Daniil the Tactician

Daniil the Tactician (died 431 BC) was a Greek mercenary who was active during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography[]

Daniil was a strong mercenary, and he was always calm before a battle, arrogantly thinking that he had already won; unfortunately, that didn't always translate to the actual fight. In 431 BC, he was hired to hunt down the Cephalonian mercenary Kassandra, tracking her down to Pharsalus fort. There, he searched the battlements for her, but she snuck up behind him and stabbed him in the back, killing him.
