Daniel Tarbox Jewett (14 September 1807 – 7 October 1906) was a Republican US Senator from Missouri from 19 December 1870 to 20 January 1871, succeeding Charles D. Drake and preceding Francis Preston Blair Jr..

Biography[]

Daniel Tarbox Jewett was born in Pittston, Maine in 1807, and he served as the city solicitor of Bangor from 1834 to 1837 before joining his brother in operating a steamboat line in Panama and engaging in gold mining in California for two years. In 1857, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and he was elected to the State House in 1866. He served as a Republican US Senator from 1870 to 1871, and he died in 1906.
