
Daniel Russell Brown (28 March 1848-28 February 1919) was the Republican Governor of Rhode Island from 31 May 1892 to 29 May 1895, succeeding Herbert W. Ladd and preceding Charles W. Lippitt.
Biography[]
Daniel Russell Brown was born in Bolton, Connecticut in 1848, and he worked at a hardware store in Hartford before moving to Providence, Rhode Island and becoming a partner in a mill supply store. He served as a Republican presidential elector in 1888 and as Governor from 1892 to 1895, and he signed legislation permitting election by plurality in addition to majority. He died in 1919.
