Daniel Parke Custis (15 October 1711-8 July 1757) was an American planter and the first wife of Martha Dandridge, the future wife of George Washington.
Biography[]
Daniel Parke Custis was born in York County, Virginia in 1711, one of two children of powerful politician John Custis. He married the much younger Martha Washington (he was 37, she 16) in 1750, and they resided at Custis' White House plantation in New Kent. He died of a heart attack in 1757, and his wife remarried to George Washington two years later.
