Daniel Haines

Daniel Haines (6 January 1801-26 January 1877) was the Democratic Governor of New Jersey from 27 October 1843 to 21 January 1845 (succeeding William Pennington and preceding Charles C. Stratton) and from 18 January 1848 to 21 January 1851 (succeeding Stratton and preceding George Franklin Fort).

Biography[]

Daniel Haines was born in New York City, New York, the nephew of Aaron Ogden. He practiced law in Newton and Hamburg, New Jersey before serving on the Legislative Council from 1839 to 1840 and serving as Governor from 1843 to 1845 and from 1848 to 1851. He died in 1877.
