Daniel Bek-Pirumian

Daniel Bek-Pirumian (22 November 1861-1921) was a Colonel of the First Republic of Armenia during World War I.

Biography[]

Daniel Bek-Pirumian was born on 22 November 1861 in Nakhichevanik, Elisabethpol Governorate, Russian Empire. He served in the Imperial Russian Army from 1881, and in 1913 he became a colonel. Bek-Pirumian captured the fort of Dalangez in Erzurum, and 1,100 out of his 1,400 troops were killed and the rest injured in a brave stand that repulsed eight assaults. On 26 May 1918, he commanded the Armenian forces at the Battle of Sardarabad, and in 1921 he was arrested and executed by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War.
