
Damien Marchesseault (1 April 1818-20 January 1868) was the Democratic Governor of Louisiana from 9 May 1859 to 9 May 1860 (succeeding John G. Nichols and preceding Henry Mellus), from 7 January 1861 to 6 May 1865 (succeeding Wallace Woodworth and preceding Jose Mascarel), and from 8 May to 8 August 1867 (interrupting Cristobal Aguilar's terms).
Biography[]
Damien Marchesseault was born in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada in 1818, and he gambled in New Orleans before serving as Mayor of Los Angeles from 1859 to 1860, from 1861 to 1865, and in 1867 and as Zanjero (water steward) from 1866 to 1867 and from 1867 to 1868, when he shot himself due to his mounting debts.
