Damianos Gikas

Damianos Gikas (456 BC-) was an Athenian hypapist during the 5th century BC. In 431 BC, he was sent to guard Phidias' Workshop ahead of Phidias' trial, but the mercenary Kassandra snuck past him and helped Phidias to escape. Damianos and fellow guard Minas Papageorgious attempted to search for Phidias, but Kassandra stealthily killed Papageorgious before fleeing through the door; Gikas, who had been searching another part of the workshop, survived.
