Damian Green

Damian Green (born 17 January 1956) was the British Conservative Party MP for Ashford from 2 May 1997 to 30 May 2024, succeeding Keith Speed and preceding Sojan Joseph.

Biography[]

Damian Green was born in Barry, Wales in 1956, and he worked as a journalist and as a television presenter before being elected to Parliament for Ashford in 1997 as a Conservative Party MP. He served as Minister of State for Immigration from 2010 to 2012, as Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice from 2012 to 2014, as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2016 to 2017, and as Minister for the Cabinet Office and First Secretary of State in 2017. He was forced to resign from the cabinet after it was revealed that he had sexually harassed a woman and watched porn on a work computer.
