Damascus Governorate is one of the fourteen governorates of Syria, consisting only of the Syrian capital of Damascus and the Yarmouk Camp suburb. The governorate is completely surrounded by Rif Dimashq Governorate, and it is a small enclave, only notable due to its status as an administrative center. In 2010, the governorate had a population of 1,711,000 people.
