The Daidoji Faction is a secretive faction within Japan's Liberal Democratic Party that was founded in 1954 by ultranationalist politician and World War II admiral Minoru Daidoji. The faction consisted of a network of Japanese politicians who worked together to maintain their control over the country's politics and economy, ensuing the continued influence of the country's pre-war political elite in the post-war period. The group achieved their aims through both legal means, such as their work through the LDP, and illegal means, maintaining a group of spies and assassins in every major city in Japan. The group was based from the Daidoji Temple in Tokyo, which was run by the group's "Head Priest", and its agents referred to each other by codenames. In 2016, the faction agreed to support Tsuneo Iwami's plan to take control of the Yomei Alliance and the Tojo-kai in exchange for Iwami ensuring that Daidoji would not be connected to the "Secret of Onomichi", instead pinning the blame for its illegal development on his late father Heizo Iwami. Ultimately, Iwami failed to kill Kiryu and was later arrested for his father's murder. After Daidoji died of old age, his successor bribed Kiryu into remaining silent about Daidoji's involvement with the secret battleship in exchange for the Daidoji faking Kiryu's death and securing the acquittal of all Tojo-kai leaders in their upcoming racketeering trials. Kiryu went on to become Agent "Joryu" for the faction in exchange for its funding of the Morning Glory Orphanage, but Yuki Tsuruno threatened to leak Kiryu's survival. The faction later forced Homare Nishitani III and Kosei Shishido to become agents. After Tokyo governor Ryo Aoki's scandal in 2019 weakened the LDP, the Daidoji Faction was greatly weakened. The faction later sent Kiryu and Kihei Hanawa to Hawaii in 2023 to find Akane Kishida to use something as leverage against the current political leaders, whom they suspected were collaborated with Palekana in illicit matters. Ultimately, Hanawa was betrayed and killed by Eiji Mitamura, but Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga saved Akane.
