
Dacian Ciolos (27 July 1969-) was Prime Minister of Romania from 17 November 2015 to 4 January 2017, succeeding Sorin Cimpeanu and preceding Sorin Grindeanu. He was an independent while serving as Prime Minister, but he later founded the Freedom, Unity, and Solidarity Party.
Biography[]
Dacian Ciolos was born in Zalau, Romania on 27 July 1969, and he worked as an agriculturalist before serving as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2007 to 2008 and as European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2010 to 2014. In 2015, after the resignation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, President Klaus Iohannis invited Ciolos to form a government, and he formed a technocratic government. He left office after the Social Democratic Party of Romania won the 2016 parliamentary elections, and he went on to found the Freedom, Unity, and Solidarity Party and become an MEP in May 2019.
