Czech Silesia is one of the three regions of the Czech Republic, located within the greater Silesia region. Along with Bohemia and Moravia, it is one of the three historical regions of the Czech Republic, and it was synonymous to Austrian Silesia during the 18th to 20th centuries. It became a part of Czechoslovakia after independence in 1918 and then a part of the Czech Republic after the "Velvet Divorce" of 1993. It had a population of 1,000,000 people over 1,722 square miles.
