Cyril Kinnear

Cyril Kinnear (born 1929) was the boss of the Newcastle Mob of Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Biography[]

Cyril Kinnear was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England in 1929 to a working-class family, and he worked his way up the criminal ladder to become the boss of the powerful Newcastle Mob. Kinnear had connections to the Fletcher Mob of London, and, in 1971, Fletcher Mob enforcer Jack Carter headed to Newcastle to investigate the death of his brother, Frank Carter. In the process, Kinnear's rival, the businessman Cliff Brumby, manipulated Jack Carter into believing that Kinnear was responsible for Frank's death, when Brumby had actually set Frank up. Jack proceeded to arrange for an exchange with Kinnear: Kinnear would hand over Frank's killer, Eric Paice, in exchange for an incriminating pornographic tape linked to Kinnear. Kinnear sent Paice to meet Carter, but he also secretly hired a hitman to kill him. Carter proceeded to give a fatal injection to his late brother's mistress and leave her body on Kinnear's estate, before proceeding to call the police. The police raided Kinnear's estate as he held a wild party, and they found the woman's body; this, along with their receipt of the porn tape from Carter, led to Kinnear being imprisoned.
