
Custodio Garcia Rovira (2 March 1780-8 August 1816) was President of the United Provinces of New Granada from 21 January 1815 to 17 August 1815 (succeeding Jose Fernandez Madrid and preceding Antonio Villavicencio) and from 30 June 1816 to 10 July 1816 (succeeding Liborio Mejia and preceding Fernando Serrano).
Biography[]
Custodio Garcia Rovira was born in Bucaramanga, Viceroyalty of New Granada in 1780. He qualified as a lawyer in 1804 and went on to become a liberal intellectual, and he served in the Neogranadine military during the Colombian War of Independence. He served as President of the United Provinces of New Granada in 1815 and in 1816, but he was defeated by the Spanish Royalists at the Battle of Cuchilla del Tambo and was captured at La Plata, after which he was executed by firing squad in Bogota.
