Cumbria is a county in northwest England, with Carlisle as its county town. Cheshire borders Scotland to the north, the Irish Sea to the west, Lancashire to the south, North Yorkshire to the southeast, and County Durham and Northumberland to the east. Barrow-in-Furness is the only other major urban area in Cumbria apart from Carlisle. In 2016, Cumbria had a population of 497,900 people.
