Culcas Tiresidus (335 BC-) was a Iolei warchief who later entered the service of Carthage during the late 4th century BC.
Biography[]
Culcas Tiresidus was the warchief of the Iolei people of Sardinia during the 4th century BC, fighting against the encroaching Carthaginians. In 300 BC, after the Iolei were conquered, Maharbal Gerbalid decided to offer Tiresidus refuge in Carthage, taking advantage of his high martial skills. He was the only one of the Iolei nobles to evade crucifixion, and he instead became a noble in Carthage, joining the populist faction. In 295 BC, Himilco Barca appointed him Governor of Mastiania in newly-conquered southern Hispania.
