The Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia was a Croat political entity that existed in western and northern Bosnia and Herzegovina from 18 November 1991 to 14 August 1996. The republic nominally controlled 30% of the country, namely the Croatian border regions, but Republika Srpska's military took over the Croat regions during the Bosnian War of 1992-1995. In March 1994, the Croats and Bosniaks of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina made peace, and they allied against the Serb forces. In 1996, the republic was formally abolished, joining the "Bosniak-Croat Federation".
