County Durham is a county in northeast England, with Durham serving as its county town. Darlington, Hartlepool, and Stockton-on-Tees are the other major settlements of Durham, which borders Tyne and Wear to the northeast, Northumberland to the north, Cumbria to the west, and North Yorkshire to the south. In 2016, the county had a population of 859,600 people.
