County Armagh is one of the six counties of Northern Ireland, located in the south of the region on the border with Ireland. Armagh is named for its county town of Armagh, and the county is known as "Orchard County" for its plentiful apple orchards. The region has a population of 174,792 people, covering 512 square miles of land; in 1865, 80% of the county's 51,790 people were Ulster Scots.
