
Countess Belkis of Massawa (2 March 1073-4 April 1094) was the daughter of King Dawit II of Axum and Pernilla.
Biography[]
Belkis was the second daughter of King Dawit II of Axum and his wife Pernilla, behind Falashina Gideon and before Pernilla Gideon and her brother Finhas Gideon. She was from the Ethiopian Jewish House of Gideon. In 1090 she married Count Sinda Ar'ad of Massawa after he converted to Judaism at her father's request. She died in childbirth on 4 April 1094, giving birth to a daughter named Sheba.
