Count Gargamel of Venaissin (26 June 1340-) was Count of Comtat Venaissin in southern France under the Papal States from 16 February to 2 May 1344, succeeding Count Foulques of Venaissin and preceding Count Guilhem of Venaissin.
Biography[]
Gargamel was the only son of Count Foulques of Venaissin and Countess Amalia of Venaissin, and he inherited the Comtat Venaissin exclave of the Kingdom of France upon the death of his father in Pope Alexander V's dungeons in 1344. Gargamel himself was arrested by Pope Alexander to deter his family from retaliating against him, and on 2 May 1344 his title was taken from him and granted to Guilhelm, a priest of the Papal States.
