The Irish crowd attacking the corporals' car

The Corporals killings occurred on 19 March 1988 when two British Army corporals were dragged from their car and murdered by Provisional IRA supporters that were taking part in a funeral procession for dead IRA members. The funeral procession, dedicated to the victims of the Milltown Cemetery attack (who were killed at a funeral by loyalist Michael Stone), was interrupted by the arrival of two off-duty British soldiers in their car. The Irish people were scared, believing that they would re-create the cemetery attack, dragged the two corporals out of their car and beat them to a pulp before dragging them to nearby waste ground and shooting them dead. The entire incident was filmed, described as one of the most dramatic and harrowing events of The Troubles.
