Cora Munro (1723-) was the daughter of Colonel George Munro and the wife of Nathaniel Poe. She and her sister Alice Munro were brought to North America by their father during his service in the French and Indian War, and she turned down marriage proposals from her father's subordinate, Major Duncan Heyward. She fell in love with the adoptive Mahican Nathaniel Poe after he rescued her, her sister, and Heyward from a Huron ambush and escorted them to Fort William Henry, and she was later taken captive by the Huron warrior Magua, a sworn enemy of her father. Poe and his Mahican family rescued her, though Alice killed herself after Magua slew Uncas, Poe's brother and her beloved. After Poe's adoptive father Chingachgook killed Magua, the three of them returned to a peaceful life.
