Cooch Behar, also known as Koch Bihar, was a princely state under the British Raj located in modern-day India. Its origins trace back to the Kamata Kingdom's expansion, which united various Koch tribes. A key figure, Bisu, rose to power by consolidating control and gaining military experience, establishing a strong foundation for the state. However, after the Kamata Kingdom split into two parts in 1587, Cooch Behar was conquered by the expanding Mughal Empire and became a dependent territory.
