The Constitution Party is a paleoconservative political party in the United States that was founded in 1991 as the U.S. Taxpayers' Party. The party believed that the United States was founded on Christian principles, despite opposing religious tests, and the party belonged to the conservative "Christian right" of American politics. The party also refused to accept changes to the US Constitution, and it opposed Social Security, welfare, euthanasia, suicide, abortion (including in cases of rape or incest), illegal immigration, gun control, the income tax, eminent domain, and the direct election of senators, and the party was considered to be a far-right party. Its support base withered as the Republican Party shifted even further to the right during the 21st century, with men such as Donald Trump adopting many far-right views and rejecting some moderate conservative values.
