The Conservative Senate in Berlin, 1806

The Conservative Senate was one of the three legislative assemblies of the French Consulate and the First French Empire, existing from 1799 to 1814. The senate was established by the Constitution of the Year VIII, and it took on the role of an advisory body during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, consisting of 80 men over the age of 40. In 1814, the senate was abolished as a result of the Bourbon Restoration.
