The Conservative Party was a conservative political party in Venezuela that existed from 1830 to 1899, rivaling the Liberal Party of Venezuela. The party was founded by the independence hero Jose Antonio Paez, and the party was in power from 1830 to 1870, and violence between liberals and conservatives led to the Federal War of 1859-1863, which saw the federalist rebels defeat the conservative government. After Guzman Blanco's liberal revolution of 1870, the Conservative Party failed to put one of its own in the presidency, and it dissolved in 1899.
