Conrad Vig

Conrad Vig (1961-March 1991) was a Private First Class of the US Army. He was killed in March 1991 while rescuing his friend Troy Barlow from the Iraqi Army.

Biography[]

Conrad Vig was born in Texas, and he never graduated high school and was only semi-literate. He enlisted in the US Army and was deployed to Kuwait during the Gulf War, but he did not fight in the war, as it was too late when he arrived. In March 1991, Vig, Troy Barlow, and Chief Elgin discovered a map of the location of stolen gold bullion in the butt of Iraqi officer Najeeb Mansour, and Major Archie Gates joined them later.

They stole the gold from the Iraqis at Karbala, but they got into a firefight with the Iraqi Republican Guard later that day, and Barlow was captured. The squad was obliged to take Iraqi refugees to the border in exchange for the rebels helping them in freeing Barlow, and Vig helped them in their assault on Oasis Bunker.

However, Vig was shot in the collarbone by an Iraqi sniper after the battle and he died of his wounds.
