The Conquest of Evora occurred in September of 1165, when the Christian Portuguese reconquered the city of Evora (al-Yabura) from the Almoravid Moors during the Reconquista.

As a result of the 1158 Battle of Vendas Novas, the Moorish field army guarding al-Yabura had been destroyed in battle with King Afonso Henriques, and the city was open to capture. In September of 1165, King Afonso's general Gerald the Fearless launched a surprise attack on Evora, wresting it from the Moorish Taifa of Badajoz with light casualties. al-Yabura was renamed to "Evora", and it became an important center of Portuguese palaces, monuments, and religious buildings over the next several decades.
