The Congolese Party of Labor (PCT) is a social democratic political party in the Republic of the Congo that was founded on 29 December 1969 by Marien Ngouabi. Except for a period from 1992 to 1997 that resulted in the Republic of the Congo Civil War, the PCT has been the ruling party of the Congo since 1969, with northern military officers leading the PCT in a Soviet-style communist state that was ruled as a military dictatorship. Today, it holds 89/139 seats in the National Assembly.
