The Congo is a region in western central Africa. Made up of rainforests, the Congo is a large source of ivory and gold that was first traded by the French and later the Belgians. Eventually, the British and other countries began to trade in the Ivory Coast trade hub and the Congo trading regions. The region was also a source of copper and slaves.
