The Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument is a monument in the Libby Hill neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia which was erected by the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument Association in 1894 at a cost of $30,000. It was modelled after Pompey's Pillar in Alexandria, Egypt, and it features a Confederate soldier standing atop a pillar of 13 blocks (meant to represent each of the Confederate states). It was removed by order of Mayor Levar Stoney on 8 July 2020 amid the George Floyd protests.
