Victor Quispe Palomino (), also known as Comrade Jose, was a Shining Path leader who led the group from 2012, succeeding Comrade Artemio.

Biography[]

Victor Quispe Palomino was the son of two Shining Path revolutionaries, with his father being killed by the Ronda Campesina anti-communist militias and his mother being arrested. Under the name "Comrade Jose", he became a Shining Path leader who took part in the 1983 Lucanamarca massacre of 69 peasants and led 300 men, including child soldiers. He imposed war taxes upon narcotics traffickers in Peru, helping to fund the losing rebel group. In 2012, he took command of the group from Comrade Artemio, who was captured; Jose was ashamed of his siblings, who were responsible for the arrest of Artemio's predecessor Oscar Ramirez.
