The Communist Party of Kazakhstan was a Marxist-Leninist communist political party in Kazakhstan that existed from 1936 to 2015. It existed as a branch of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union until the Dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, and it was recreated in October 1991. The CPK had a well-established party structure, having offices in all of the Kazakh oblasts. In 2004, the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan splintered from the main party due a bribery scandal, and the CPK was banned in September 2015. Nevertheless, it was estimated to have 70,000 members.
