The Communist Party in Saudi Arabia (CPSA) is a communist political party in Saudi Arabia that was founded on 23 September 1954. The CPSA was targeted in a group of arrests from 1968 to 1969 due to its opposition to the autocratic rule of the House of Saud, and it had as few as 30 members in 1975. The CPSA opposed the corruption of the House of Saud, discrimination against women, and the pro-Western foreign policy of the country. Declining popularity caused by the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the rise in popularity of political Islamism led to the party renaming itself to the Democratic Assembly of Saudi Arabia.
