The Combatant Clergy Association is an Islamic conservative political party in Iran, founded in 1977 by dissident Shi'ite clergymen who were opposed to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's secular dictatorship. The Combatant Clergy Association supported the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and was one of the driving forces behind the Iranian Revolution of 1978-1979, inspiring young Muslims and Islamists to rise up against the fascist Resurgence Party. The party's views are generally right-wing, with the ideologies varying from Islamism to conservatism, pragmatism, clericalism, or even democracy. In May 2017, the association held 66/88 (75%) Assembly of Experts seats.
