The Colorado Party is a right-wing political party in Paraguay that was founded in 1887. The party ruled the country from 1887 to 1904; from 1947 to 1962, the Colorado Party implemented one-party rule in Paraguay. It was not until military dictator Alfredo Stroessner's 1989 overthrow that the one-party military dictatorship was overthrown; the party still continued to remain one of the largest political parties in the country. In 2017, the party held 46/80 Chamber of Deputies seats and 20/45 Senate.
