Colm Murphy (18 August 1952-18 April 2023) was an INLA and Real IRA member who was convicted of his involvement in the Omagh bombing.
Biography[]
Colm Murphy was born in Belleeks, County Armagh, Northern Ireland in 1952, and he became active in Irish republicanism during his teenage years, resulting in several prison spells during the 1970s. He was initially a member of the Provisional IRA, and he was arrested in America in 1983 for attempting to procure arms for the INLA. He became a property investor in the late 1980s, buying a pub in Dundalk and hosting republican meetings. In 1999, he was arrested for his Real IRA involvement and his role in the Omagh bombing, but he was acquitted in 2010 and died of lung disease in 2023.
