Collin Peterson

Collin Peterson (born 29 June 1944) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MN 7) from 3 January 1991 to 3 January 2021, succeeding Arlan Stangeland and preceding Michelle Fischbach.

Biography[]

Collin Peterson was born in Fargo, North Dakota in 1944, and he served in the Minnesota Senate from 1977 to 1987 before being elected to the US House of Representatives in 1991. He was one of the founders of the Blue Dog Coalition due to his conservative views, supporting social conservatism and liberal economic policies (such as opposition to free trade). However, despite running a campaign portraying himself as a conservative Democrat, he lost re-election to Republican candidate Michelle Fischbach in 2020.
