Colleen Hanabusa

Colleen Wakako Hanabusa (born 4 May 1951) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-HI 1) from 3 January 2011 to 3 January 2015, succeeding Charles Djou and preceding Mark Takai, and from 14 November 2016 to 3 January 2019, succeeding Takai and preceding Ed Case.

Biography[]

Colleen Wakako Hanabusa was born in Waianae, Hawaii in 1951, and she worked as a labor lawyer for over 30 years, as well as a corporate officer in a family-run corporation. From 1999 to 2010, she served in the State Senate, and she was then elected to the US House of Representatives from 2011. She was a member of the centrist New Democrats. In 2018, she decided to run for Governor of Hawaii, but she lost in the Democratic primary to David Ige.
