Co-op City

Co-op City is the largest cooperative housing development in the world, located in the northern parts of The Bronx, New York City. In 1966, the city began construction after the closure of the Freedomland amusement park, and it was completed in 1973, with 15,372 residential units and 35 high rise buildings. In 2010, 43,752 people lived in Co-op City, with 8.5% being white, 60.5% African-American, 27.7% Hispanic, 1.2% Asian, and 2.1% other races.
