Clyde Nichols was an American private investigator who worked for Pinkerton and as a detective-for-hire during the Gilded Age. In 1878, Long Zii Tong boss Mai Ling hired him to look into Deputy Mayor Walter Buckley's private affairs, and he discovered that the Deputy Mayor was a Confederate veteran with a penchant for red-headed prostitutes.
