
Claudio Benjamin Orrego Larrain (20 December 1966-) was a Christian Democratic Party of Chile politician.
Biography[]
Claudio Orrego was born in Santiago, Chile on 20 December 1966, the son of Claudio Orrego Vicuna, and a member of the prominent Larrain family. He participated in the anti-torture movement during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship before serving as a councillor in Penaloen from 1996 to 2000, as Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in 2000, as Mayor of Penaloen from 2004 to 2012, as an unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2013, and as Intendant of the Metropolitan Region from 2014 to 2018. In 2021, he ran for Intendant once again, facing leftist Comunes politician Karina Oliva and narrowly defeating her.
