Claude "Screwy" Maddox (1892-21 June 1958) was a Chicago Outfit associate under Al Capone.

Biography[]

John Edward Moore was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1892, and he became a member of the Egan's Rats gang, using the alias of "Claude Maddox". This gang was later absorbed into Al Capone's Chicago Outfit, and Maddox became the leader of the Circus Cafe Gang, the only gang from the Nort Side of Chicago to ally with Capone. His gang was reduced to a satellite by the end of Prohibition, but he held a high position in the Outfit until his death from a heart attack in 1958.
