Claridas

Claridas (85 BC-), born Sennefer, was an Egyptian chariot racer who competed at the Lageion in Kanopos as a member of the Veneta Blues.

Biography[]

Sennefer was born in Siwa, Ptolemaic Egypt in 85 BC, and he often competed in horse races against his childhood friend Bayek; they both sought the same woman, Aya. Sennefer was not content with living in the village, as he sought fame and glory, so he moved to Kanopos in the Nile Delta to become a chariot racer. As racers needed the patronage of wealthy Greek families, Sennefer adopted the Greek name "Claridas" and the Hellenic religion, and he became a member of the Veneta Blues. In 48 BC, he reunited with Bayek at the town's tavern, but they got into a drunken brawl due to Claridas' asonine comments about his continuing attraction to Aya and his hatred for Siwa and his old ways. The next morning, they both recovered, and Claridas told Bayek that he would need to get all the help he could get if he truly wanted to join Nikias' Prasina Greens racing team in the hippodrome.
