Clapa

Clapa (died 886) was a Northumbrian Danish Viking who was a member of Uhtred of Bebbanburg's household troop during his service of King Guthred. He was a strong and fearless warrior, but he was a warm-hearted and loyal comrade, and he served Uhtred faithfully. In 886, after suffering an axe wound to his neck at the Battle of Beamfleot, he decided to sacrifice himself to help Uhtred and Aethelflaed in their escape, and he was ultimately overwhelmed and killed after slaying several Vikings.
