
Ciril Ribicic (born 30 June 1947) was a Slovenian politician and jurist.
Biography[]
Ciril Ribicic was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Yugoslavia in 1947, the son of Mitja Ribicic. He rose in the ranks of the communist SKJ party, becoming one of the most influential reformists in the ranks of the League of Communists of Slovenia, together with Milan Kucan. In 1990, he initiated the walkout of the Slovene delegation from the 14th Congress of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, precipitating the Breakup of Yugoslavia. He served in the Slovenian National Assembly during the 1990s as a leader of the Social Democrats of Slovenia, and he withdrew completely from politics in 1996. In 2000, he joined the Constitutional Court of Slovenia.
