Circars was a division of British India's Madras Presidency (in the present-day Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha), existing from 1823 to 1947. The British exerted their influence over the region during the 18th century, and the United Kingdom bought the Nizam of Hyderabad State's claims on Circars in 1823. Circars was a subdivision of Madras Presidency until the Partition of India in 1947, during which Circars became a part of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
