Cindy Axne

Cindy Axne (born 20 April 1965) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-IO 3) from 3 January 2019 to 3 January 2023, succeeding David Young and preceding Zach Nunn.

Biography[]

Cindy Axne was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but she was raised in West Des Moines, Iowa. She worked in the state government on service delivery from 2005 to 2014, and, in 2018, she became one of the first two women (alongside Abby Finkenauer) to be elected to the US House of Representatives from her state. After the 2020 elections, she was the only Democratic representative from Iowa, and she was defeated for re-election in 2022.
